The Almere Nature Route

Start the cycle route at VVV Almere, right in the centre of Almere. By the way, did you know you can shop here 7 days a week? Not far outside the city is Stadslandgoed de Kemphaan, the place where you can enjoy an adventurous day out surrounded by nature. There is plenty to do. Children can romp in the Zuiderzee Play Forest, climb in the treetops and feast on delicious pancakes at Family and Pancake Restaurant De Kemphaan. Or discover the jungle garden, browse the organic farmers' market, go monkey watching at the AAP foundation and relax on the terrace of the forest restaurant Buitengewoon Lekker.

The route continues through the city …

The route continues through the city and along the beautiful nature of the unique Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve. While cycling, you might spot one of Almere's Big Five such as red deer, konik horses, heck cattle, bald eagles or foxes. The route back to the centre of Almere continues via the Lepelaarplassen nature reserve. Time for a stop? Then head to Paviljoen de Oostvaarders.
