With Land Art Centraal, a visitor centre run by the Land Art Flevoland Foundation at Lelystad Central Station, Flevoland is positioning itself as a national centre of expertise in landscape art. It is no coincidence that the Netherlands’ first land art visitor centre is located in Lelystad. When land art emerged as an art movement, Flevoland was just being developed. The engineers and planners who were building Flevoland at the time became interested in this new art form. Over the years, this led to the creation of a series of artworks by internationally renowned artists, inextricably linked to the story of the polder.

The collection of landscape art is scattered throughout the entire polder. This makes it special, but also not always easy to take in as a whole. Furthermore, not all the artworks are accessible by public transport or by wheelchair. Thanks to the scale models in the ‘Land Art op Schaal’ exhibition, the entire collection can be experienced in a single space, making the artworks accessible to many more people.
